What a tournament this year!!! Anglers from all over the Chesapeake using a number of techniques and skills to catch their top fish to take the lead in all divisions.

We have several of you with recorded catches and the leaderboard is a constant shuffle of anglers!! Mike Morelands 40.5” striped bass remains to be unbeaten; however we are closing in on some of the best fishing towards the end of the tournament. Other anglers fighting for that top spot are Foxy Alder and Travis Long, both in a very tight race. Currently Travis is holding the slam position at a total of 77.5”.

The Kayak division is providing some of the most excitement this year. With Ravens Defense holding the lead in the Redfish category with a huge 47” monster. He also has nearly completed the first Super Slam with only a Spanish Mackerel missing from his 5 species catch. He also is leading the Slam category with a total 86.75” for his top three species. But he’s not to far ahead of the other challengers in that division – Reelaxin and Cds49 are close on his heels!!

The junior division has been entertaining as well to watch. Our reigning champion Nick Long is currently holding the slam category with a total of 72.5” with Darin Zagalsky hot on his tail with a total slam of 67”. Luke Helfenbein came out of nowhere with a monster 20” blue to take the lead in that fish division for the entire tournament (as it stands now).

The fly division is slow to get started but catches are starting to come in hot and heavy. Chesapeake Tjam is holding the top spot as it stands now with a total slam of 48.75”. However reports keep coming in that there are sleepers in this division that are about to turn it on in the coming weeks.

Hope all are having as much fun participating as we are watching the reports come in. We have some great sponsors this year offering a multitude of products to the winners and participants. Thank you for your commitment to Techfish and good luck in the home stretch!!

Look forward to seeing everyone at the year end tournament party on 9/16 starting at 2pm at the Big Owl Tiki Bar in Grasonville, MD (Kent Narrows).
